Hawaii Part IV

One of the main things I wanted to do while we were in Hawaii was to go to a luau.  While on Kauai we went to the Smith's Garden Luau.   You see the last name "Smith" and you think they're not Hawaiian.  But the family's Grandfather married a Hawaiian woman, and 4 generations of the family now run the nightly luau.  Danny, Gigi, Papa Joe and I took in the whole experience.  We went to both the dinner and show.  The rest of the gang met us there for the show.

The whole place was gorgeous!  There were peacocks everywhere.  Many different trees and flowers.  So pretty!

Us at the entrance.  The place was huge!
The whole trip I was obsessed with plumerias.  They are my favorite flower in Hawaii and there are plumeria trees all over the place.
There were so many photo op places.  By the lagoon

Before dinner there was a cocktail hour and the "Imu Ceremony"
The Imu Ceremony is these guys digging up a pig that had been cooking underground for hours that would be our dinner.  It was actually good.
The poi, not so much.  Tasted like glue (or what I imagine glue would taste like lol).
during dinner there was singing and dancing.
After dinner, Ambs and the gang joined us.  I found a pic of a shirt like this on Pinterest (if you haven't been on Pinterest yet, go see what you're missing)  and had to copy it.
Ambs in her Hawaiian coconuts and grass skirt.
The whole fam in our leis Tom bought for us.
Let the show begin!  It was about an hour and was really good!

Ambs was entertained through most of it, but got sleepy towards the end.

The finale fire dancers.

If you are ever in Kauai, go see this luau.  It was a great experience.
